originally a basilica-style church burnt down in Nika riots was rebuilt under supervision of Isidore of Miletus and Anthemius of Tralles. Magnififcent dome filled with mosaics. Procopius claims that Justinian claimed "Solomon I have outdone thee" (re - 1st Jewish temple).
